High-End Subwoofer Bass Exciter 4D

The BassExciter 4D is a closed subwoofer equipped with 4 BassExciter BX10 drivers and 130 x 36 x 46 cm (HxWxD) in size. This model was designed for tightness, fast response and therefore for best possible bass reproduction. As trade-off there is, however, extreme low bass is to some extent lacking.

Panels required: 28 mm chip board, MDF or Multiplex
2 x side panels: 1296 x 456 mm
2 x top/bottom: 298 x 456 mm
2 x front/rear panels: 298 x 1240 mm
Internal bracing:
1 x centre partition: 298 x 400 mm

To fit front and rear panel additional square wooden strips of 2 x 2 cm are useful.

Connecting the Bass Exciter 4D

The total impedance of all drivers is 4 Ohm and are, therefore, ideally suited for most subwoofer amplifiers. To achieve this the top pair and the bottom pair are connected in series. Both pairs are then joined at the amplifier module.

For a fast and tightly controlled bass reproduction resistors are not necessary. For a somewhat deeper bass the array of 8 resistors should be used.

The driver: BassExciter® by Ralph Mantel

The BassExciter produces an astonishingly deep and clean bass, even in a small 17 litre cabinet. This goal was achieved by developing the BX 10 and the passive radiator BXP 10 (available since 8/2000).
