Capacitors come in many different quality grades. To help you to determine which capacitor is suitable for a specific application we have put together the table below. We carry capacitors by the following manufacturers:

The MKT capacitor's dielectric medium is polyester foil. For high-end applications MKP and tin foil capacitors are used, employing polypropylene as dielectric medium. As you will notice in the lower part of the table, we cannot imagine that many applications for the top capacitors. - Unless you want to use the best possible components throughout. In this case you should also have a look at Mundorf M-CAP SUPREME and Mundorf M-CAP SUPREME Silver/Gold capacitors.

MKP foil capacitor Audyn Cap MKP QS axial lead, cylindrical design, rated voltage: 400Vdc/250Vac C-Tolerance: +/- 5%       A good foil capacitor, surpassing the MKT by quite a margin. Also called polypropylene capacitor.

Description by Intertechnik:
In order to achieve the utmost attention to detail, the drivers have to follow even the smallest impulse with correct timing. However, every capacitor needs a specific time to charge which is proportional to its capacitance. To overcome this, a small - so-called bypass capacitor is added in parallel. This high grade bypass capacitor starts hunting down every music peak, uncovering even the finest branching of the music signal. In publications this circuit design is sometimes called impulse capacitor. To do the job we decided to employ best - a MICA capacitor which is simple to integrate into an existing crossover. The MICA capacitor's value is with 0.010 µF very small and, therefore, doesn't change the filter characteristics, but improves transient response considerably.
