Self-adhesive sealing tape made polyethylene foam in charcoal colour. We suggest MDM-5 for hi-fi and MDM-20 for PA applications.
For increasing the inner damping, suppression of partial vibration and linearisation of frequency response, also prevents diaphragm bleach.
Particularly suited for paper cone drivers. Remains water-soluble until hardened.

... Sound Varnish is based on an extremely expensive substance. Available in 10 ml container and upon request in 250 ml container.
This coating lacquer has a similar effect as C37 in helping to damp unwanted vibration. But Ultee Audiotechnik used a different road to success.
The lacquer increases the speed of sound in the soaked material, shifting the resonance to higher frequencies.
Every coat should be allowed to dry for 48 hours. Successive coats need even more time. Further hints by the manufacturer

Sound Vanish D (ultee-sv10-d). Price per 10 ml bottle: EUR 28,30 Sound Varnish hints by Mr Ultee himself: It's advisable to use an airbrush for diaphragms that suck-up immense quantities of lacquer (especially the thin paper diaphragms of full range drivers) to ensure thin and even distribution. Without the necessary expertise using a conventional brush, it's easy to soak the diaphragm beyond saturation point (one has to be quick). Even the cheapest airbrush with compressed air bottle instead of a compressor by Conrad Electronic (around 25 EUR for both) shows excellent results. For those who own expensive full range drivers (Lowther, AER or the big Fostex models) and don't have the courage to coat them, the airbrush is the answer.
