Firsttime 4 aus ADM 11/2006Transmission line speakers have become known for being a reasonably priced entry level speaker type due to the simple assembly and modest requirements from the bass drivers. But, this doesn't mean that a decent sound quality cannot be expected. The First Time 4 is such an example. It's a classic three way TL with 20 cm bass driver, 11.6 cm midrange and 2.5 cm tweeter. Intertechnik uses the term "cost effective" for this kit and at price considerably lower than 100 EUR they are absolutely right.

Udo Wohlgemuth took three drivers and designed a floorstanding cabinet around them. The result is a loudspeaker that shouldn't be afraid of either punk or classical music.

... "Even classical music like Bach's "Toccata and Fugue" was a piece of cake for the First Time. The listener can easily imagine the nave where the recording took place. Bruckner's 8th Symphony scintillated not only with dramatic brass but also with dynamics that could not be expected from these dirt-cheap drivers. A recording of Schubert's "Schwanengesang" by Herman Prey and accompanying grand piano confirmed this. As a result, the First Time 4 is certainly not only a recommendation for novices in speaker building. Sure, there are more impressive speakers around, but in comparison with standard finished speakers the First Time 4 has no problem to win the shoot-out."
