D'Appo 4, a small floorstanding speaker with Seas drivers, similar in design to MS Micro 2006.
The NoFerro 800 TV belongs to the group of ferro fluid free drivers with magnetic shielding. Due to its size the resonance with 800 Hz is quite low. The diaphragm made of coated silk is centred in the air gap by a surround made of polymer.
Review by Udo Wohlgemuth in ADM 5/2006: "The speakers blended well in to an already existing good mood and made an excellent debut with Patricia Barber, organ and vocals and Michael Arnopols on bass. The song title couldn't be more appropriate: "Use Me!" Musical fireworks were displayed by Hugh Masekela with "Lady". Percussion, bass drum and electric bass performed on a stage that's wide open at the back and with perfect resolving and peak handling. The slight drop at 1.5 kHz is intended to avoid obtrusiveness of vocals and instruments. Some might say, therefore, that this speaker is not free from flattering effects. The answer is simple: that's it, if you like it! How else could these small speaker pretend to be much bigger than their physical size? Different to other forgiving speaker designs, attacks and peaks were not wiped away, merely the sound tended to be on the warm side.
Memories of more than twenty years came back when I finally played "Joe Cocker live at the Rockpalast". This CD was a gift by a friend, a sound engineer, who had re-mixed the original radio recording of a live performance at the Lorelei in 1983. A much younger Joe Cocker seemed to be walking into the listening room, filling it up with his typical voice. When he finally performed "With a little help from my friends" showing his characteristic emotions the audience went wild and asked for an encore."
