Four B 200 fullrange drivers are used in the sealed cabinet of the QUADRO. They are mounted closely above one another to ensure a favourable radiation: wide horizontal angle and a narrow angle vertically.
The vertical angle shouldn't be too narrow, however. Therefore, all drivers are in parallel within the low frequency range. With rising frequencies the B 200's are switched off one after the other, until only the second from the bottom remains playing in the higher frequency range.
Due to the slightly tilted baffle, this fullrange driver points exactly at the ears of the listener, sitting 3 metres or more away.
The QUADRO's sound is similar to the SOLO's or SOLITUDE's. The exceptionally clean and analytical sound is quite noticeable, but never annoying. The QUADRO is not capable of producing such an extreme low bass volume as the SOLITUDE does. But this could also be an advantage in small rooms, since the room resonance is not even triggered (standing waves).
The Quadro shows the following characteristics:

Excerpt of the review by K+T 2/2006: ..."We started our listening session with the bass heavy and dynamic "Slippin' Away II" by James Newton Howard, a piece mainly based on bass and snare drum. Surprisingly, we didn't miss anything within the low frequency range and due to eight drivers and 350 litres of volume the Visaton excelled, even without a subwoofer. The snare drum hit us as if horns were operating. Without doubt, that's one of the Visaton's forte. Also classical material was reproduced with attention to detail; the Quadro never lost track, even at the fortissimo of a large orchestra. Complex music that sometimes turns into a non-transparent, mushy affair when using average speakers, is reproduced with precisely arranged and placed instruments. And now some vocals. The crystal-clear voice of Margie Gibson in "Puttin' on the Ritz" was displayed clearly defined, not too big and with the right placement, mainly due to the single driver running at mid and high frequencies. Experimenting with speaker placement we found out that angling the speakers towards or away from listener or pushing the speakers back and forward, the sound balance could easily be adjusted to the listener's taste. Our "Eckharrt" (see page 32) was waiting to join in, so we arranged that quickly. Since both have a high efficiency and possess large radiating areas, we thought that they will get along quite well. After some adjustments they harmonised without any problems. The additional low bass was a natural low frequency complement, however, there was no major gap when the "Eckharrt" was turned off. The Visaton Quadro is an imposing loudspeaker, both acoustically and optically. This speaker excels in reproducing dynamic music material and shows the customer that he doesn't need run-of-the-mill and off-the-shelf products."
